Every Thursday in July and August, Schagen goes back to 1900

Since 1953 the West Frisian Folklore has shown every summer how the farmers and townspeople of West Friesland lived around 1900. At 10:45 the parade sets off: some twenty carriages, farm wagons and landaus, with hundreds of people walking along in original regional dress.

On the Markt the children’s dance group and the West Frisian dance group perform, there is a market in the Nieuwstraat, and every Thursday has its own theme, from the animal day to ring tilting around the church.
