During the West Frisian markets, visitors to and residents of the municipality of Schagen can climb the town tower on the Markt and enjoy the view over Schagen. For the tower, the municipality of Schagen is looking for

for 5 hours a week
General and job-specific information
In the period from 28 June to 30 August inclusive, the tower is open to the public on Thursdays. We are looking for a number of tower wardens, who will divide the tasks in the tower (entrance, platforms, gallery) among themselves by mutual agreement. The tower is open from 10:00 to 16:00.
During the performance of the West Frisian dance group the tower is closed to the public (11:30 – 12:30). This time can be used as a lunch break.
4 to 5 tower wardens are scheduled each time. In addition there are several reserve tower wardens who must be available by phone until 9:30 to stand in if needed.
Tower wardens must be at least 16 years old, or turn 16 in the course of this year. The municipality of Schagen provides accident insurance.
As a tower warden you are responsible for:
• providing assistance with climbing up and down where necessary (watch out for small children);
• enforcing the smoking ban on, around and in the tower;
• preventing people from writing with felt-tip pens etc. and carving into the woodwork with pocket knives etc.;
• directing the flow of people going up and down (the stairs are not wide enough to pass each other, so the public has to wait for each other on intermediate platforms);
• supervising the public on the tower gallery (no leaning over, no throwing things down etc.);
• keeping the tower clean.
Remuneration
The remuneration is €20 per day. The cashier receives €25 per day. The fees are paid out at the end of the day by the Financial Management department at the town hall. Those scheduled as reserves receive no remuneration.
