The 'Witches' Scales' are back

Get weighed and have your photo taken on a West Frisian Thursday!

The Boerderij – en Rijtuigenmuseum Vreeburg (farm and carriage museum) and the Westfriese Folklore have joined forces to make the West Frisian market even more attractive. On Thursday 17 July you can have yourself weighed on antique scales that we had considered lost.

But the parts turned up from every nook and cranny, so that we can revive an old tradition from more than 50 years ago. You will receive a fine certificate on which your weight (which may also remain a secret) is filled in.

On Thursday 24 July you can have a professional photo taken “Volendam-style”, that is, in West Frisian costume on a carriage, for €15. If you would like to reserve a time between 10:00 and 14:00 to have your photo taken with family or friends, you can do so at the following e-mail address: penningmeester@museumvreeburg.nl

Of course, by taking part in an activity you are supporting our regional heritage.
