Ten summer Thursdays in Schagen, just like around 1900

That's it for another year

That's it for another year

Another folklore season has come to an end...

It seems only a short while ago that we were enjoying the first folklore Thursday.
High-ranking visitors from Haarlem, lots of people out and about and fine weather.
Yesterday we were already able to close the season in cheerful fashion.

Cheerful, I say, because it was ten Thursdays without incidents, accidents or any significant damage.
Apart from the Day of the animal, which was unfortunately completely rained out, there were 9 top days with consistently very acceptable weather!

The closing day, too, with more than 120 people inside at Igesz, was a merry affair, thanks above all of course to the performance by the Uienhoop and the way Tom Wester of Creatief Westfries had us play the Westfrieslandspel (West Friesland game), all accompanied by photo and film work by Raymond den Boef.

I would like to thank everyone, and I mean everyone, who once again put their best foot forward last season to make the folklore Thursdays a great success, for their commitment and positive attitude.

In November the evaluation evening is on the agenda again, and then, after a short hibernation, we will get ready for the 59th season in 2012!

So, everyone, thanks a million: I'm ’bloid’ (West Frisian for happy) with all of you!

Rob Hogenes,
chairman of the Stichting bevordering Westfriese folklore in Schagen.
