Ten summer Thursdays in Schagen, just like around 1900

Thank you, gentlemen!

Tuesday morning: as always, the maintenance team having coffee (with a pastry).

On behalf of the Folklore board, vice-chairman Siem Huijberts thanked Bats van Wieringen for his efforts. For 16 years Bats coordinated many activities involving the carriages, horses and more in and around the carriage shed. This always went hand in hand with humour and lots of fun. Although no longer in office, Bats will still regularly take part in the parade. Because, as he says himself: "It's all folklore".

Siem also said goodbye to Piet de Graaf. For 27 years Piet took care of the coffee, something tasty and, above all, the friendly atmosphere. But given his age (90 this week!), it is – however regrettable – time to hand over the baton.

There were presents for both gentlemen, and programme leader Jan Benit added a few characteristic West Frisian poems.

NB. Johan Visser was a long-standing member of the maintenance team, but was unable to attend due to illness. A delegation will visit him at home.
