Summary of the annual meeting of 27 May

The annual meeting of the Stichting bevordering Westfriese folklore (Foundation for the Promotion of West Frisian Folklore) in Schagen was well attended last Monday evening.
Besides the various ‘housekeeping’ items on the agenda, several special programme items to mark the 60th season were announced.
Such as:
- A real goose herder on the ‘day of the animal’ (11/7)
- 18 groups from all over the country on the traditional costume day (25/7)
- Barrel organ day (1/8)
- Show of old tractors and classic cars (15/8)
- Ring tilting with special carriage turnouts (22/8)
- Street vendors' contest on the closing day (5/9)

At the end of the meeting an anniversary stamp was presented.
On behalf of the West-Friesland philatelic society, Joop Brak handed the first sheet of the special stamp (showing the gig with Simon Kroone and Miss West Frisian Folklore Aljona Terzi) to folklore chairman Rob Hogenes.
The envelope, which is sure to be snapped up by collectors, is on sale for €7.50 at Max Hopmans Brillen en lenzen, Gedempte Gracht 31, Schagen.

Siem Kroone also said a few words; he donated the proceeds of his birthday party (€1000) to the folklore on its anniversary.
