Secretary Arie Groen has passed away

In Memoriam Arie Groen

Born and bred in Waarland, Arie joined the board of the Westfriese Folklore in Schagen in May 2008. In the seventeen years that followed as secretary, he proved to be a reliable and tireless linchpin.

He was not only active at the Westfriese Folklore. As a people person with a strong social commitment, he was a member of many a board.

Arie was also the man for ‘mourning and marrying’, as on request he was both a funeral director and a registrar of marriages.

A small, dapper man with many talents, who was never too busy to take a task upon his shoulders. Helpfulness, a willingness to serve and a clear opinion of his own characterised him as a person.

The Westfriese Folklore is grateful to Arie for the great deal of work he did over all those years. We will miss him enormously and remember him with respect and reverence.
