No Folklore in 2020

No West Frisian Thursdays in Schagen this year

The cabinet's decision, as announced last Tuesday evening, is clear. All events are banned until 1 September because of Covid-19. Although in theory the last Thursday, on 3 September, might still go ahead, the board is of the opinion that there can no longer be any question of a folklore season.

So no parades and no themed activities on and around the market. A pity for everyone who holds the folklore dear, but health must take priority.

To maintain the bond with our many donors, the board of the Westfriese Folklore has decided to publish a few ‘Kronieken’ (the magazine of the Westfriese Folklore) nonetheless. Instead of the usual four, two will be published. The first Kroniek will appear in early July, the second at the end of August or in early September.

The board sincerely hopes that we will be able to enjoy a splendid folklore season again next year.
