Summer is on its way! West Frisian blood will be flowing everywhere and slowly but surely we are getting ready for the new season.

18 June the Miss election and 2 July the first parade.

In this second newsletter, some more important information!

Issue of costumes, bonnets and prams

People who would like to take part in the weekly parade can borrow West Frisian clothing from the Foundation. A modest fee is charged for dry-cleaning and maintenance costs. We also ask for a small deposit, which can be refunded when the items are returned in September.

Costumes

Monday 15 June: from 14:00 to 16:00 and from 19:00 to 21:00

Tuesday 16 June: from 19:00 to 21:00

Wednesday 17 June: from 14:00 to 17:00

Saturday 20 June: from 11:00 to 13:00

Tuesday 30 June: from 19:00 to 21:00

Prams

Tuesday 16 June: from 19:00 to 21:00

Bonnets

Wednesday 10 June: from 19:00 to 21:00

Tuesday 16 June: from 19:00 to 21:00

The items are issued in the ‘folkloretoren’ (folklore tower) of the Rijtuigmuseum (Carriage Museum), in the Muziektuin in Schagen.

Children's dance group

Since 16 April the children's dance group has been practising again every Thursday (from 15:45 to 16:30) on the Slotplein (by the bull). Info: Astrid Neve, (wfkinderdansgroep@ziggo.nl).

Costume show and Miss election

Who will succeed Ina Broekhuizen as Miss Westfriese Folklore?

On Thursday 18 June (from 20:00) the costume show and the Miss election will take place. This time in Hotel Igesz, where we have more changing space.

Guest day 6 August

From the first Thursday onwards you can buy tickets at our information stall on the Markt for the guest day on the Markt on Thursday 6 August. Reserve your place quickly.

Closing day 3 September

Keep the afternoon free on this last West Frisian Thursday.

Bakkerij Slijkerman will offer participants in costume a fully catered bread meal on the Markt that afternoon. Music, shanty choirs and a tasty lunch to round things off. More information will follow.

Refreshment vouchers

From this season, the refreshment vouchers will be handed out at the end of the parade, at the “Stille Laan”.

Arie Groen will be waiting for you there to hand you your coffee voucher.

So NO longer on the Nieuwe Laagzijde, at the start of the parade.
