Miss election
Looking forward to the new Folklore season already? The season traditionally kicks off with the Miss election.
On Thursday 18 June the time has come: the election will be held for the first time in the Rijtuigenmuseum (carriage museum) on the Loet in Schagen, starting at 20:00.
Who will succeed Sandra Bakker and proudly ride at the head of the parade on the gig (sjees) next to Loek Kramer?
The election is open to all ladies, young or old, with a bonnet or a hulletje (simple cap). In short: to anyone who wants to show off her costume. Becoming Miss is not a must; you may also just show your costume.
That can be a costume that is years old, but also a new costume, whether or not home-made.
Ladies who rent their clothing and/or bonnet from the foundation can of course also take part.
And it does not matter whether it is the richer costume with a silver or gold ijzer (head iron) or a simple costume with a hulletje.

Bonnet fitting
After last year's success, a few bonnet-fitting evenings are being organised again this year.
On Thursday 7 May and Monday 18 May, a bonnet-fitting course will again be given in the Folkloretoren (Folklore tower), starting at 19:30. Contrary to an earlier announcement, it will not be possible to collect bonnets then.
Cost €5.00
A maximum of 10 participants per evening; when it's full, it's full.
