Live audio description on Music Day
Press release: Westfriese Folklore in Schagen made accessible with live audio description on Music Day
Schagen, Thursday 30 July 2026 — On Thursday 30 July, the Westfriese Folklore in Schagen is all about Music Day (Dag van de Muziek). That day, visitors can enjoy a colourful parade in authentic West Frisian regional costume, with participants on foot and in farm wagons, gigs and landaus, drawn by magnificent horses.
New this year is that, for the first time, the Westfriese Folklore will be accompanied by live audio description throughout the day. In cooperation with the foundation Komt het Zien!, an audio describer will describe what there is to see, so that people who are blind or partially sighted can also fully experience the parade, the clothing, the horses and the performances.
The Westfriese Folklore has been a household name in Schagen for more than 70 years. During Music Day, history, regional costume, music and encounters come together in the town centre. Thanks to the live audio description, this special day becomes accessible to a wider group of visitors.
Programme

From 09:45: attend the harnessing of the horses to the carriages, followed by a meet & feel with West Frisian clothing.
From around 11:00: the parade passes by, with live audio description.
