Happy holidays

From the board

The year 2022 is fast drawing to a close. Despite much misery and uncertainty caused by war and the climate crisis, the year now almost behind us has been a wonderful year for the West Frisian folklore. After two years' absence we could finally get going again in full.

Enthusiasm for the Folklore turned out to be as great as ever, and there was absolutely no sign of the feared drop-out of volunteers and ‘walkers’ in the parade.

Next year we celebrate our 70th anniversary! That we have come this far is thanks to all the dedicated volunteers who over the years have kept the torch of the Folklore burning. We hope we can count on the commitment of the many who have the Folklore at heart for many years to come.

In connection with the coming anniversary year, the board has decided to publish a book about the West Frisian Folklore in all its facets. We want to do this with beautiful photos (with accompanying text, of course) of all the things that make the West Frisian Folklore such a unique phenomenon. It should become a book that everyone enjoys leafing through again and that encourages future generations to keep the Folklore alive.

Next year too, we hope to organise another wonderful season. The programme is already filling up nicely, and leaflets and flyers will be available before too long.

But first, of course, we would like to wish everyone happy holidays.

See you next year!

Kind regards,

Petra, Miss 2022 Babette, Rienk, Jan, Siem, Arie, John, Max and ringmaster Bart.
