Farewell

Last Monday, during a lively annual meeting, we said goodbye to several volunteers.

Conny Pronk had been involved for decades.

First with his brother Nico as right-hand man to Klaas Brederveld, later as coachman on, among others, the Speelwagen, De Uienhoop and the German Feldwagen.

Arnold v.d. Wardt (89) was for many, many years the accordionist of our house band De Uienhoop. Although he still plays the instrument, after more than 20 years he felt the time had come to make way for the younger generation.

In 2008 the costume committee of the time announced that it would stop entirely with the costume loan and everything that goes with it. Marja Hogenes formed an enthusiastic team of ladies who took on this important work. It started in 2009 with the move from the old costume loft on the Markt to the brand-new premises in the ‘folklore tower’ of the carriage museum. She has now passed the torch to Conny Praat.

In the photos they receive flowers (and the ladies a kiss) from the chairman after a few words of thanks.

More news about the annual meeting will follow shortly in our June newsletter.
