Coachmen's meeting

On Tuesday 27 May the coachmen's meeting took place, chaired by head of the carriages Michel Bakker.
Attendance was once again tremendous; only a few coachmen were absent, for good reason.
Michel opened the meeting with a moving minute's silence for the coachmen we lost last year, Jan Pieter Glas and Siem Huijberts.
This year the carriages and harnesses will be given extra checks by Danièlle Huijberts, Loek Kramer and Michel Bakker. A trial run with the carriages through Schagen is planned before the actual market begins.
When Michel asked: "How did the 2024 parade go?", the unanimous answer was "VERY WELL".
Still, there are a few points for improvement, namely that the walkers in the parade must keep moving, because horses hate standing still. There are also a few points for improvement for the ring tilting.
Five new coachmen are joining this year, and the duties of Bats van Wieringen are being taken over by Tom Bos.
The evening was well catered for by Danièlle and Michel: on arrival there was coffee and cake, and when it got dark there were drinks and nibbles.
If the coming season is not a success, it will not be down to the coachmen.
