€5,000 cheque for the Folklore from 40-year-old VEKO

Veko Lightsystems 40 years: €5,000 for the Stichting Westfriese Folklore
SCHAGEN – A delighted chairman Rob Hogenes of the Stichting Westfriese Folklore (West Frisian Folklore Foundation) received a cheque for €5,000 at Veko Lightsystems International BV on Thursday 15 October. Veko celebrated its 40th anniversary on 18 September and had asked its guests to make a donation to the Stichting Westfriese Folklore instead of giving a present. The request met with a huge response. A wonderful sum was raised, and Veko doubled it.
Veko Managing Director Menno Veldboer explains this kind gesture. “The Folklore and Veko have been connected for forty years. We both come from Schagen and, just like the Folklore, we cherish our town and this piece of cultural heritage that belongs to it. We don't want it to disappear.”
A West Frisian heart
“We also hold the Folklore dear in memory of my parents, Nic and Truus Veldboer, who also founded our company. They were very active in the foundation for many years. and every week they walked along in traditional costume. Sadly, they both died far too young and did not live to see this anniversary. In this way they are with us in our thoughts and the circle is a little bit complete again.”
Rob Hogenes responded: “As the board of the Stichting West-Friese Folklore we are of course extremely delighted with this generous gesture from Veko. This wonderful sum is a great first step towards investing in good humidification equipment for the museum where our carriages are kept. The air there is too dry, especially for the wooden wheels. We thank all of Veko's guests for their contribution, and Menno and Lianne Veldboer in particular for this lovely initiative!”
